History of Davenport Street Home Owners

The two properties we are currently renovating in Smyrna have an incredibly rich history! The family that used to own these two properties in the historic black community of Davenport, Smyrna, ran a day care out of one of the homes and lived in the other. The two homes were connected by a bridge, making the houses one. After their mother, who ran the daycare, passed on, the family closed the daycare. Now the family has moved on to a smaller, more manageable home size.

We loved hearing about their family’s history and the history of the neighborhood. We hope to honor the memory of the family generations that used to live here by restoring these homes to their original glory and we are so excited for the families that will live in this beautiful, historic Smyrna neighborhood.
